VAR CONTROVERSY as Man Utd set a new record after defeating Chelsea.

It was a match anticipated by many as Super Monday promised an exciting and exhilarating encounter.

This was the beginning of a long spell of tough matches ahead for Chelsea and a win here could boost the teams morale.

United themselves were looking to make history with a win in this match, as it would be the first season double done on Chelsea by United.

The game kicked off at 9pm with Martial and Batshuayi leading the attacks of their respective teams as both strikes looked to increase their goal tally.

Chelsea look more promising in the first 20 minutes of the match having 4 attempts at the United goal with 0 on target.

N'Golo Kanté was replaced with Mason Mount after picking up an injury in the 12 minute.

Batshuayi got a clear-cut chance on a platter of gold after a cut back from Azpilicueta found him right in front of the 6-yard box but the striker wasted the chance as his strike skewed wide of the left post for a United goal kick.

The match soon started to get interesting as United grew into the game and both teams started to test each other's goal more often.

Eventually, right on the brink of halftime  United broke the deadlock when a beautifully floated cross from Wan-Bissaka on the right wing found Anthony Martial who didn't hesitate to put the ball in the back of the net with a fine header placed well away from Chelsea goalie.

The second half kicked off with a substitution on Chelsea's part when Kurt Zouma came in for Andreas Christensen who got injured in the first half with a bloody nose.

Not too long after, precisely 11 minutes into the second half the Chelsea substitute found the back of the net from a corner but the goal was disallowed by VAR because there was a foul in the build up to the goal as Azpilicueta seemed to push Brandon Williams in the United box.

Exactly 10 minutes after the disallowed goal, United doubled their lead. Bruno Fernandes who had since been troubling the Chelsea defence with his quality set pieces finally found Harry Maguire's head from a corner kick which Maguire headed straight home to deliver a big blow to Chelsea and a second goal to United.

Lampard replaced Batshuayi who had no effect on the game anymore with Oliver Giroud to help exploit and bully the United defence in the air.

This plan was perfect as a few minutes after being subbed in Giroud pulled one back for the blues with a fine low header from close range but the goal was disallowed by VAR because his left boot was a few centimeters offside just when the ball was crossed to him.

The game went on as normal and in the 90th minute to most Nigerians expectation United's new loanee was brought in to replace Martial. Odion Ighalo looked sharp as his first 3 touches were used to dribble to 2 Chelsea defenders and a few seconds later a laid off pass from Fred fell into his path but Caballero was able to deny him a debut goal.

The referee blew the final whistle and United got the 3 points on the night.
This was also the first time United did a league double on Chelsea in the same season since 1988.

Do you think United deserved he win??
