INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION; SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE OF WORK IN THIS 21ST CENTURY


The world we are in right now is advancing, it's changing, growing with technology(robotics,computers,gadgets,etc) practically taking over human labour; especially in most advanced nations. With lots of things happening and things changing everyday in the business and working class world, there is an EVIDENT need for one have to do things that are unusual, think outside the box, gather knowledge and put them to use.

This article is written not to bore you or scare you but, to help you stay prepared out and to serve as a guide for the future. 
       

Generally, there are four industrial revolutions that is, the set of people in the working class age and the kind of technologies used in their time. 

Those born between the year (1900-1924) were called the war generation because they fought the World War II.

 Those born between the year (1925-1945) were called the silent generation, these were the generations after the second World War.

Those born between the year (1946-1964) were known as the 'baby boomers'. 
This generation had a highly blessed with a good and stable economy, everything went well for this them. In the generations listed above, there was no use of technology, it was the stone age. 

(1965-1979)were called the generation X. Not much is known about this generation but during this time, people started using the computer.

(1980-1995) these set of working age are called the MILLENNIALS or GenY. This is the age were androids, smart phones personal computers(PC) and other gadgets became in use. They are the 3rd industrial revolutionary generation.

(1996-Present) this generations are the 4th industrial revolutionary generation and they are called the CENTINNIALS. This generation is one where Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, 3D printing, Artificial intelligence, 5G wireless technology etc. would be the leading technologiesof the world.
We are moving from the millenial's year to the centennial's year where expertise skills would be well appreciated.


For this reason, here are 8 skills you may need for the growing Future of Work in this 21st century.

1. Critical thinking. Be ready to think outside the box 

2. Creativity and Innovation. Do the unusual.

3. Accountability and Flexibility. Be flexible in decision making and ready to accept the opinions of others. Be accountable at all times too.

4. Leadership skills. Learn to lead and not just be a follower. 

5. Data Literacy. Collecting data keeps you in check.

6. Emotional intelligence. Know how to handle your emotions. 

7. Collaboration. It can also be called Networking. There is no island of knowledge. Interact and join forces with people of like minds.

8. Learn skills. Four skills are essential in learning skills. 

a. Cross skilling: this simply means spreading your skills breath wise.

b. Up skilling. Getting upgraded about new trends and procedures. 

c. Re-skilling. This is the constant and consistent learning of new skills especially those in high demand. 

d. Expert skilling. It is getting hands on experiences while solving new problems.

Skills is the new currency in the world of work and your success determines your network.
