Good day, I am OLAMIDE Banuso(Prime). I’m a content creator, promotion strategist, and publicist.
I will talking about promotional strategies that you could use for your business as well as a
few basic need to knows that you need to know: you may or may not be familiar with some of
these things. After reading this article, kindly drop your observations, additions and questions.
• Study the environment
The first thing you need to know is before starting business; what the people in that environment
need and whether or not you can you provide them. You can as well take a survey to know the
demand in an area, then you can choose to supply. DO NOT start up a business because a
someone you know is flourishing in it. As a entrepreneur, you need to be open minded. 5 people
are selling clothes in an area, do not become the 6th, you can sell accessories.
Everyone knows
a perfect outfit is not complete without the perfect accessories, hence your relevance. If you must
at all start up an already existing business, make sure you have more to offer than. You will offer
better deals, packages, you offer quicker deliveries? Just make sure you have an edge and don't
be a mediocre in business.
• Tell people what you do
If you run a business, tell your friends, classmates, colleagues, co-workers, church members about
it, as these are your immediate potential customers. Make a habit of meeting new people regularly
and always mention what you do, in your Introduction. This however reminds of another need to
know, you should never be caught slipping, when you introduce yourself as a fashion plug, you sell
lovely clothes and shoes but your dress sense appears to have broken up with lovely😩.
• Customer service is very crucial
Interact formally when making transactions and under no circumstance should you be rude to a
customer. Good customer services make people always want to come again next time and even
give referrals.
You may say you are well aware of these, but ask yourself, how well do you understand them? If
you are the kind that takes things personal a lot, then I suggest you allow someone else
communicate with your potential customers for you.
• Go digital!
If you have a business, and you’re wondering whether or not to advertise it online yet, you
definitely should! You can list your business on "Google My Business". What this does for you
is; when an individual searches on Google for a business, lets say make up artists or
photographers in Abeokuta, if you are listed, Google will bring up your business as an option.
Social media like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook are also very useful for your business. In recent
times, WhatsApp has proven to be an amazing platform to run ads. Now this particular piece of
information Applies to digital marketers as well, you have ten thousand followers on Instagram and
twitter or 1000+ views, this does not mean you will make sales.
I remember a particular brand owner complaining to me about how she spent a lot of money running ads with different WhatsApp
influencers who had well over 1000 views and made zero profit. Where did things go wrong?
Marketing goes beyond posting a picture with a price or worse posting a picture and tell people to
send you a DM for the price! Marketing is convincing people they need that particular commodity at
that time. When marketing your products, try to attach a cloying value to it, and also highlight the
benefits.
Here are some illustrations;
1. You complain about how stressful school is and how having to cook after classes can
worsen the stress, few of your audience relate, then you go ahead to ask what if there was
a food vendor that could deliver to their doorsteps. At that moment everything is just random
banter. But when a few people start to fancy the idea, just then you reveal that such a
vendor actually exists. You engage your viewers before actually revealing the ad. Rather
than just post a picture that people will most likely skip.
2. Showing your audience how accessories can be gracefully worn or matched with outfits,
bringing out the beauty in the costume, can in no small way help to boost your sales of
accessories. Another reason why those ads might have failed is that you were advertising to the wrong
audience! The ages, genders and location of your audience is a major factor to consider before
placing your ads. When running ads on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you really need to put
these into consideration;
▪︎ Staging promotional giveaways attract new customers as well as a free trial of your service
or a free sample of your commodity. If the things you are offering are as good as you say they are,
then they are definitely coming back to purchase and you will definitely get referrals.
▪︎ As an artiste, it's important to know that graphics designs and download links are not
enough to prompt anyone to download except your family and friends, even if you somehow
manage to be #1 on twitter trends. A better approach is to drop a short video, one that is eye
catching, relatable and entertaining. A dance video with a really good dancer, a thirst trap
Snapchat video, a skit, or a video of you actually grooving to the track. Doing this will get more
people to download/listen to your song.
▪︎ To conclude this session, running an ad for a day is not enough. The human mind works in
an amazing way; if you see an ad often enough, you subconsciously begin to develop interest.
