3 Tips To Help You Get Faster Online Gameplay

It’s not a competition, but we can bet that we hate data throttling and slow internet speeds more than you do. They are even more annoying when we are gaming online, and they seem to have come to disrupt all the fun we are having.
We are telling you this so that you know you are not alone with feeling sad about such situations.
However, feeling bad about it won’t solve the problem for us. How about we look at the problems that could cause this – and how to solve them too?

Problem #1 – Your ISP’s Coverage
Every internet service provider has towers from which they broadcast their broadband network to the subscribers. Those who are close to the towers will get better reception, and that will recede as the distance from the tower broadens.
If you happen to find yourself on/ near the radius of a coverage circle, best believe you won’t have the best connection speed to boast of.
This is not the fault of the ISP in giving you slow speeds, but your location has put you out of range.
Fix: It is advisable to move to another internet service provider with better coverage in your area. This will give you access to a noticeably faster internet speed and connection than before.
If the old internet service provider is your main carrier, consider a data-only plan with another carrier that has better service in your area. You could dedicate this to gaming alone to track your data usage better too.

Problem #2 – ISP Throttling
Sometimes, your ISP has great coverage in the area but will slow down your internet connection anyway. They have different reasons for doing this, some of which are:
Trying to accommodate a lot of users on the network at the same time
Sensing that you are consuming a lot of data for streaming/ gaming, etc.
On the latter part, it can be argued that you are using the data you paid for anyways. However, ISPs do not see it that way – especially if you are on an unlimited data plan.
Fix: If you do not have a VPN, there is rarely anything you can do than to just ride the throttling wave out. However, getting a VPN for your gaming activities will change the narrative.
For the first instance, you can simply connect to another server location and the ISP won’t throttle your data alongside that of others in the area.
For the second instance, using a VPN will mask your internet data stream under different servers. That makes it impossible for the ISP to know that you are gaming, and they tend to leave your data speed as it is.

Problem #3 – Network Type
There are different network types and generations to have come over the years.
We have moved through the EDGE generation to get 2G, seen what 3G has to offer, and loved the place of 4G too. Since 5G has not gained widespread rollout yet, we let that generation sit this one out.
Looking at the ones we have in the market already, you will agree that there is a big jump between 3G and 4G networks. So, if you were gaming on a 3G network, you might not get the best frame rates with some tasking titles.
Fix: The fault might be with the SIM type that you have purchased. Even if you purchased a 4G plan on the module, you will only be able to broadcast that internet at 3G-standards. Thus, go for a SIM change/ upgrade.
The issue might also be with your router. After all, some older routers are configured to only broadcast 3G networks as the highest they are capable of.
Finally, you might just have to switch your router to broadcast at 4G speeds. Many routers offer the option of changing between these network types, depending on what it is to be used for.
